Brunch@ Rocks

6 Sep

I’m so happy that SPRING is finally here! And it was a beautiful monday today. :) I do have a bit of work that I need to do but really had to get out to do my hair. :P I haven’t had the time and it is starting to form an autonomous life of itself. I got out with my sis and we had the small treat before we head to my hairdresser. Well we didn’t get there a while later because we pretty much ended up visiting every store on the way. OH! We spent considerable amount of time in Paspaley where I felt like a Spiderman stuck against their display glass for ages! :P

Oh, by the way, we made the worst brunch choice ever today by just rocking into any restaurant in Circular Quay. I mean seriously how wrong can you go in Circular Quay? Is what I thought but brace yourselves there are pretty bad ones out there I found. The most unbelievable place of our choice today was Rossinis right in front of the train station. Please save yourselves! It sounds Italian but placed Italians to shame- worst coffee and their pizza was microwaved frozen pizzas. I also have to mention they have the most horrifying glasses ever. It’s so scratched you can not see through the cup. EW with capitals. That’s why we had to quickly head to La Renaissance Cafe to purify our tastebuds with some pistachio&cherry and choc macaroons and Opera Choc Cake.

( I’m wearing: Temt Shirtdress, Sportsgirl Crop Jersey Top, Sportsgirl Bamboo-fibre Stockings, Mulberry (imt.) bag, Lovisa Necklace and Chloe Ballet Flats)

Hello Sunshine

4 Aug

Something struck me today. I haven’t drawn for years… Well, actually it must’ve been my boredom. I’ve been in front of my computer all day working on a short film effect that really has been dragging… and the beautiful notebooks that I’ve bought ages ago in determination to pick up drawing again just caught my eye.

I love Garance Dore, how she takes beautiful  pictures and also turn them into lovely drawings. Yep, the girl in the picture is Anda caught in Dore’s third eye and then reinterpreted by me. ♥

Harbour Cruise

31 Jul

It was my partner’s friend’s birthday and boy, how she organises such an awesome birthday party everytime!!!! It was very cool. :)

Basically, she hired a cute lil boat and we all went for a FANTASTIC cruise around the harbour! And of course, she brought the nice weather with her too. :) We began our lil journey starting at King St Wharf near Darling Harbour pass the Opera house then under the Harbour Bridge(my fav architecture in Aus- I know, it’s such a cliche but it is so overwhelming for me everytime) to a cute beach. I know it’s winter but one of the brave, BRAVE girl did go for a swim! Wahoo! Other than winter dipping we were spoilt with endless snacks and booze and the most simple and beautiful BBQ for lunch…

Winter is generally pretty insipid.. dry.. and just COLD for me… I’m like a cat, I love lazy days in the sun and gets real sensitive and exacerbate when it gets cold and gloomy. :S I gotta say today was the most perrrrfect winter ever memorable…

I was glad that I could wear vintage Wranglers and new cheap find brogues off the net. :)

Master/Slave Couture

28 Jul

Well, I scored this jacket nonchalantly when I went to Fashion Weekend at the very start when Sydney was feeling the chills.

It’s been months now and I can’t express enough how WELL I’m wearing this Jacket! I did bought it because it seemed quite versatile and how right was I! It even goes with the outfits that I never thought it will go; cute dresses, casual, leather etc etc.  It’s so funny sometimes when the garments you get plays totally differently with your wardrobe than you expect. I generally think I have a good sense in fashion but sometimes it seems to become harder and harder. :P

Nevertheless, I praise you Master/Slave- I shall keep a good eye on you.

Spring Shoot

How do you perceive fashion? How do you understand trends?
We all have different values we chase when we are getting dressed.

Some of you the word ‘fashion’ won’t mean anything to you. You dress for comfort and functionality. It is a mere protection against the external environment. For some of you, you dress to fit in, to regulate according to norms and to associate to a particular brand or trend that mainstream celebrates. And there will be some of you who dress to rebel against mainstream in order to simply prove that you are not a sheep!

The practice of dressing for everyday is a practice we are used to, so fundamental it’s almost like… breakfast or coffee in the mornings. However, such a fascinating thing is, this everyday practice we do ritually everyday shapes who we are, what we want to be and our very own individual identity.

We seem to visually communicate with others by the way we dress and by the way we decode others according to the way they dress. It could seem unfair but it’s a blatant truth in our media bombarded society, we are just becoming better and better(and faster) at reading and interpreting signals. Of course, we also have to take account that everyone’s interpretation will be different according to their personal background and there’s always deeper level of readings you can commit to if you are crazy enough. This is where this huge problem arises. Everyone with different interpretations. Different take. Different approach. Different direction. You think you are on the same page but darling you will never be on the exact same page. We can ever get so close but never impeccably on the same spot. Most of the time it will be very far off like: I would think it’s very avant garde but for you it might be disturbing. You think that lipstick looks nice on your lips but I want to ask you what you are trying to be…?

There are so many aspects, discourses, things and craps now that we bring in when we are decoding anything. Clear communication is lost and it’s getting more blurry and grey as we go.

Stuff it! I guess this is not all too bad… well for fashion at least, com’on we are in a postmodern age now! Everything gets mixed up and this is spawning new ways and meanings. Therefore NEW STYLE.

If this is the case, should we be really listening to others to tell us what is right or wrong in fashion? Just give them a mirror and tell them to look at themselves first.

No one should be afraid of what others think- wear what makes you happy.

Spring Shoot

15 Jun

One thing I need to mention before I start, it was FREEEZING!! And I really mean FREEEEEEEZING! To the point I could feel my feet tingling going numb and by 11am I couldn’t feel my whole feet. Seriously, photoshoots come with a great blood and tears, from planning, organizing and finding talents AND handling all the drama that always follows on the shoot. I just gotta commend my passion for this industry- I still love it! haha At the end of the day, it is very rewarding to work with such a bunch of fantastic talents and also feed off  from each other. I can’t wait for all the great people and experiences I’ll come across in my journey!

Oh yes! Another thing, how gorgeous is that floral headpiece we got made from Grandiflora! It was absolutely amazing how they assembled everything in such an artistic way. Yes, I admit they do know fashion very well.

Grandiflora!! You are great!!

Oh also check out our hot photographer.. Ahem.. it that woolen stocking around your neck? Guess it was pretty cold. :P
